It is my utter delight to be returning to Perth (my first soloist gig since before the pandemic!) to sing the iconic bass solos in Handel’s Messiah in December with the Perth Symphonic Chorus.

When I was a university student I used to sing in this Chorus (and the Collegium Musicum Chamber Choir) under Dr Margaret Pride – who was an important influence in my young career. To now be returning for this annual tradition as soloist (and my third Messiah for the month) will be very special.

All the more so because I will be back at His Majesty's Theatre (while the Perth Concert Hall is being renovated) which was my old home whilst singing with the West Australian Opera Chorus.

Details & Tickets to be announced here soon!

I'm delighted to be returning to Perth in November to sing the solo bass arias in Handel's Solomon and rejoin the St George's Cathedral Consort for this special concert in the Perth Concert Hall.

Solomon (1749) is among a series of masterful oratorios which Handel composed beginning in 1749. As with other Handel oratorios, although it does not refer to the political happenings of his day, this work does have a connection to his times in that Handel pays homage to a wise and religious ruler from antiquity - and in so doing, also to the golden era of England and its king, George II.

Requiring large musical forces, with thumping choruses and ravishing solos, St George's Cathedral Consort and Orchestra, with soloists including the legendary Sara Macliver, will bring this oratorio to life in a rare Perth performance. The performance will be conducted by the Cathedral's Master of Music, Joseph Nolan, recently hailed as a "Musical Colossus" by Australia's Limelight Magazine.

We are delighted to welcome back former Consort member, Bass Baritone Andrew O'Connor, to sing with the Consort and perform a solo aria. Andrew appears courtesy of The Song Company.

“In the near-perfect acoustical environment of Perth Concert Hall the immaculately trained St George’'s Cathedral Consort reached for and touched the stars.”  - The West Australian.
